Northampton Barn
46 Bridge Street
 

From Amherst:

·        Take Rte. 9 to Northampton.

·        You will pass over the Calvin Coolidge bridge.

·        At the lights, keep straight. 

·        You are now on Bridge Street.

·        You will come to another set of lights.  The Tri-County fairgrounds     

            are on your left.


·
        Keep straight.
 

·        The Bridge Street cemetery will be on your right.  Then, you will see

          the Bridge Street Elementary School on your right.  The road will

          curve to the right.
 

·        Almost immediately, on your right, you will see The Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities.  It is a brown-mustard yellow house.  It is one of the historic homes at Historic Northampton (named, the Shepherd house).  There will be a Historic Northampton sign with a hand pointing to the parking lot.
 

·        Take this right to the parking.  You can park for free in the parking lot. 

 

·        The big, white barn next to the parking lot is where Ted’s studio is housed.  The barn is named, the Shepherd barn.

 

From Rte.91 Northbound:

·        Take exit 19. You will come to a major intersection. The Calvin Coolidge bridge will be on your right.

·        Take a left onto Bridge Street.

·        Follow the directions above from Bridge Street. 

From Rte.91 Southbound:

·        Take exit 18. You will come to a set of lights.

·        Take a left.  You are now on Pleasant Street.

·        Keep straight until you come to Northampton Center.  This is a major intersection.  There is a set of lights.  Florence Savings Bank will be on your right, and a candy store, named Sweeties will be on your left.

·        Take a right.  You will be on Main Street.

·        Keep straight.  You will go under the train tracks.

·        You will come to a set of lights.  Keep straight.

·        You are now on Bridge Street.  The Northampton Post Office will be on your right, and Historic Northampton Museum and Educational Center will be on your left.  The main museum building is a bright yellow, Federal-style house (the Damon House).  The next house on your left is a white Colonial- style house (the Parsons House).  Directly after the Parsons House, there is a Historic Northampton sign with a hand pointing to the parking lot in back. 

·        Take a left at the sign.  There is not cost to you for parking in the parking lot.

·        Ted’s studio is in the big, white barn (The Shepherd Barn) next to the parking.
