Leader In Training Camp

Ages 15-18 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

During this program, participants will be trained in outdoor leadership skills for one full week and then apply those skills under the mentoring of the lead staff of the Outdoor Challenge Camp. Participants will assist staff in the delivery of daily outdoor adventures during the sessions of camp. Each young leader will assist for one or two weeks during the summer. After camp is finished, all leaders in training will participate in a week-long overnight program that will include three days of paddling and camping on the Connecticut River, a day of caving in New York, and a day of community service in the Town of Amherst. During this time, they will be continually mentored and trained in outdoor leadership skills. They will receive a certificate from Adventure In Adventure Out for completing the program, as well as a letter of reference for a future job search, resume, or college transcript. Enrollment is limited to 12.
