Rising at 3:15 AM to catch two flights down to the steamy Caribbean hardly fazed her. However, Leylee had serious mixed feelings about the wind on the ferry from St Thomas to St. John...
...But her open mind and her taste for good times prevailed as we set out to discover this exquisite island.
Beach sitting, hammock swinging and pelican watching became some favorite activities for this happy six month old who'd previously known only snow and cold.
Ok, I confess, our vacation was really an excuse for some more uninterupted and unapologetic Leylee adoration...
Our daughter proved herself an outstanding traveller - funloving, sociable, flexible, curious, spontaneous, outrageous, stylish... And if it got too hot, or windy, or if the no-see-ums were biting, she simply retreated to the sacred feeding station for a moment of recharge. (Thanks, Mom!)
Leylee proved herself the equal of a dog or a footbag at breaking the ice and meeting people. Like many folks we've met, these new friends, Michael and Martina, from San Francisco, were first drawn to Leylee's luminous and gentle spirit.
Thanks to Leylee, we spent several days snorkeling, hiking and playing with M & M. Here you see them helping keep her cool on the Bay Reef jungle trail.
